Jeep Door Storage Hanger

Jeep Door Storage Hanger

This is my design for a Jeep Door Storage Hanger for those times when you want to leave your jeep doors at home. Other commercial and DIY designs rely on hanging the doors using the window frame which can damage your window seals. The alternative metal hanging brackets are expensive for what you get so I figured I would try to print something and see how it performs. Other than your filament (I use PETG for strength), you should be able to get all the additional parts for less than $15. NOTE: photos are of my prototype, I removed a screw mounting hole from the base plate and rounded off the hangers to allow doors to swing open and closed when hung. New photos soon. The multi-part design should allow these to work with both TJ and JK models as well as to allow for the replacement of the hangers over time if they wear. Simply print (2) bases and (4) hangers for each pair of doors. Snap the hangers into the base (the funnel side of the base is the top, the triangle ends of the hangers are the bottom). Join each hanger to a base by inserting a 3/8 lag bolt fed down from the top and secured with a nut on the bottom. Once you have assembled both bases measure the appropriate distance between the hangers to match your jeep doors and mount the bases to a stud on your wall. I incorporated a funnel to help guide the door hinge pins into place. Additional parts: - (4) 3/8 lag bolt, 4" or longer - (4) 3/8 nut - (4) mounting screws to attach to studs The optional door catches allow you to latch the door against the wall if you wish to prevent the doors from swinging out. You'll need (2) 3/8-16 Square U Bolt Clamps (with no mount plate) and (4) 3/8 nuts and (2) 3/8 washers. Attach a nut and washer to each clamp leg and spin to the top of the thread. Feed the clamps through the holes on the catch plate and secure on the back with the remaining two nuts. Tighten down from the front nuts to secure the u bolt to the catch plate. Parts: - (2) 3/8-16 Square U Bolt Clamps (with no mount plate) - (4) 3/8 nuts - (2) 3/8 washers. - (4) mounting screws to attach to studs To mount the door catches, place a door in the installed door hanger. Secure the side of the mounted U Bolt Clamp into a door latch, then swing the door shut toward the wall, marking where the door catch plate should be mounted. Use the diagonal slots to mount the plate (preferably to a stud). You can flip the plate 180 degrees if your stud is to the left or right. The slots should allow you to fine adjust the latch position if needed.
