Object ID: 2003.018.001 The Florida Holocaust Museum permanent collection, donated by Walter and Edie Loebenberg This Jewish National Fund (JNF) pushke, a receptacle used to collect money for charity is from the Boernplatz Synagogue in Frankfurt where Walter Loebenberg was Bar Mitzvahed. On November 9 and 10, 1938, anti-Jewish pogroms, now known as Kristallnacht, occurred throughout German and Austria, during which the Boernplatz Synagogue was destroyed. After Kristallnacht, the Loebenberg family escaped Nazi Germany and boarded a ship bound for Cuba and would eventually move to Chicago.
