The Brahms monument on Karlsplatz in Vienna is the work of sculptor Rudolf Weyr. It was unveiled on the occasion of Brahms’ 75th birthday on May 7, 1908. The artist is shown seated. At his feet the lying Euterpe with a lyre. Johannes Brahms (1833 – 1897) was a German composer and pianist. Born in Hamburg, he spent much of his professional life in Vienna.
