A hole poker on it can be used to poke the top to make it easier to tear off the foil and then poke the bottom a few times to let the water out. Then put the kcup in the holder and put that on top of a coffee cup and pour hot water slowly and carefully through the top trying not to overflow it and getting grounds in the cup.
