K Cup Tree

This countertop item is ideal for the coffee addict with a K Cup brewer. This design is modular so you can stack pegs and K Cup holding plates until the coffee holding abilities of the tree are up to your personal needs. As pictured, the K Cup tree holds 21 K Cups with two large holding plates and one smaller one. Maybe you noticed the goofy ball on top? Well this part of the design might not fit everyone's tastes, we printed it in glow in the dark PLA so it's always the first thing you see in a dark kitchen, kind of an early AM homing beacon. The ball is not structural so if you don't like it, don't add it. 3/14/15: Just added holding boards that hold less K Cups, but have more room in between. See roomy holding board files. Instructions Print Tips: All items can be printed without support. We recommend using 10% infill and 2 shells for everything. All parts can be printed in low resolution, but we recommend printing the pegs at standard resolution due to the press-in fit they have to one another. We also recommend placing helper disks around the edge of the base and at the corners of the holding plates to prevent warping. A brim at the bottoms of the pegs can be helpful too if you are batching them and concerned they might get knocked over. Getting started: You will need to print out one base piece, the rest of the amounts of the pieces are left up to personal preference. Print out several pegs and start pressing them together. Print out some collars and your desired amount of K Cup holding plates. Once you have all your parts, and a shaft made out of connected pegs, insert the shaft into the hole in the base. Place a collar over the shaft, then a holding plate, and then another collar, followed by another holding plate. Continue this process until the tree holds enough coffee for your liking. If you like the ball, place that over the top of the final peg without a collar. We do recommend lightly filing a chamfer on the inside radius of the peg holes, holding plate center, and the hole in the center of the base for ease of assembly. At first the holding plates may fit snugly into the shaft made from pegs, but this will work in and loosen up nicely over time and with use, or a manual brake-in.
