K8200 / 3DRAG X-Axis GT2 Belt Modification
thingiverse
An update reveals a better X-axis idler pulley mounting; view it here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:253357. This is one of the improvements made on my K8200 from Velleman. The standard X-axis idler pulley, secured by an ordinary bearing, was replaced with a toothed pulley. Additionally, I switched to a precise GT2 belt system instead of the original T5 belt. Due to these modifications, a new holder was required, and two different versions are provided: one specifically for GT2 assemblies and another with versatile mounting options for any type of pulley. The following instructions pertain only to the GT2 solution. You'll need: - 2 x 625 ball bearings (or similar with 5mm inside, 16mm outside) - 2 x washers with a 5mm diameter hole - 1 x M5 screw with nut, at least 30mm length - 1 x GT2 Pulley, 20 teeth and 5mm inside diameter - 2 x M5 screws with nuts (10mm) for mounting on the frame. Refer to the pictures for assembly guidance. Note that you may need to rasp the motor down by about 5-7 mm to allow proper positioning within the aluminum angle. A word of caution: be mindful of the intersection between the new GT2-X belt and the T5-Y belt, ensuring they don't touch.
