So, everyone that has a KA BAR / Becker knife (WHAT?? you dont have one? go buy one right now!) put a "handle liner" on them, which basically mean two 1mm polymer sheets between the tang and the handle, usually colorful, to add some "me" touch to their knife. I wanted to laser-cut such liners for my BK4 and couldn't find a data-sheet with dimensions of the handle, so I tried to model one myself. The modelling was done by pencil-sketching the outline of the handle on paper, photographing it and adding it to a sketch on Solidworks 2013. After having the pic on a sketch I copied the contour using a few arcs as I could, all tangent to one another. I've measured the dimension of the sketch, and by comparing it to the actual size I got the scaling ratio. I HAVE NOT LASER-CUT THE MODEL AS OF NOW, so I can't guarantee that it's completely flush with the handle, but I hope to do so in the coming weeks. I'll update as soon as I'll have an actual product in hand.
