Just as the stone carver was about to begin carving Danzō's face on the Hokage Monument, his assistant told him that Danzō had died. Meanwhile, Kakashi takes Karin to the Konoha Intelligence Division for questioning. Naruto meets with the Konoha 11 and tells them of his decision to fight Sasuke alone, confusing and frustrating his teammates. After talking to the village elders, Kakashi wanders around Konoha, thinking about his future as Hokage when Guy shows up and challenges him to a race. Kakashi eventually wins the race and Guy congratulates him on becoming Hokage, stating that from now on, Kakashi will be too busy for his battles. However, Kakashi tells him that they will always be "eternal rivals" and that he is glad he was there, leaving Guy and Lee in tears. Later, as the Fire Daimyo is about to appoint Kakashi as the new Hokage, Guy interrupts him and informs them that Tsunade has awakened from her coma, causing Tsunade to be reappointed as Hokage . As the stone carver begins to carve Kakashi's head, once again, his assistant calls him, and informed that Tsunade will remain the Hokage, frustrating the carver as he had again wasted time.
