A holder for a 200mm wide kapton roll. It allows kapton to be applied to the glass of a heated printer bed without bubbles. The design consists of hubs to fit into the kapton reel and brackets to support the reel and a remote M8 threaded rod. In operation the tape is pulled from the reel and attached to the threaded rod (see pictures). The glass is then held up to the tape at the threaded rod end and the tape pressed onto the glass. the tape is then progressively rubbed down onto the glass working from the centre to the edge and from the threaded rod to the reel. Cut the tape flush at each and and squeegee down securely to finish. Having tried several methods (including soap film) I am surprised by how well this works. Print Settings Printer: Disegna3D V4 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.25mm Infill: 14% Notes: Printed in PLA Post-Printing For the base I used 9mm MDF which I laser cut, I have included a DXF file for the baseboard. Attach 2 nuts at one end of the threaded rod and lock them together, there is a pocket in one of the brackets for the threaded rod. Inserting the inside of the locked nuts into this pocket will prevent the threaded rod rotating. All the brackets have nut traps for M4 nuts. The ideal screws to fasten the brackets to the baseboard (assuming it's 9mm thick) are M4x16.
