Karakasa Kozo - Umbrella yokai

thingiverse

This is my little Karakasa Kozo, or paper umbrella monster. This little tsukumogami is part of a series I am working on in which I hope to reproduce characters from the Hyakki Yagyo-emaki, one of the oldest graphical representations of the Japanese Hyakki Yagyo, trans. Night Parade of One-Hundred Demons. The Karakasa Kozo is clearly represented in the emaki, and this little yokai is one guy is one of the most well known traditional Japanese yokai. This was made in tinkercad so its a little blocky but I hope you like it. Instead of doing a more traditional leg shape I wanted to use the program's strengths to give its more of the feeling of a shaped piece of bamboo. Either way I hope this guy makes your rainy days a little less gloomy, or more, you know. Check out its buddy the Chochin obake - the paper lantern yokai
