In the savannah of Northern Katashaka, the wily Katashakan Al-mi'raj (also known as the blink bunny and unicorn rabbit to some) is known to possess strange powers unseen in the al-mi'raj of Chult. Most notably, these strange powers don't seem to be uniform either. However, many of them possess the ability to "hop" in short teleports, which makes them a particularly interesting creature to try to track or trap. Some are even known to have dangerous spell like abilities to attack those that attack them (amazing burst of speed in combat, the ability to shoot lightning from their horns, and the ability to charm are just a few of the more well known variants). As a result, the cute and cuddly magical creatures have garnered begrudging respect from the wizards who found their way to Katashaka after it transferred to Abeir in the Spellplague. Their hides, horns, and even skeletons have been studied by the necromancers of both the tharchs of the Western Pridelands and New Eltabbar, and this is but one staff made from a collection of their parts. Its main orb is a glass crystal for scry work, and its red gems are a rare variant of quartz mined in Katashaka known as "blood quartz", which is more decorative than powerful magically.
