This is an RGB backlight mod for the Kinesis Advantage keyboards with a Stapelberg or other Teensy-based controller. ### Original controller I think it's also possible to do this mod for Kinesis Advantage keyboard with the original controller by adding a Teensy to the internal USB hub. Then use the Teensy for controlling the LEDs. You miss however the benefits to use keyboard shortcuts for controlling the animations. Anyway, it's also not covered here. My advice: score a Stapelberg PCB and some parts and install QMK as it brings your Kinesis Advantage to a whole new level. ### Led strip You need a WS2812 ledstrip, 1 meter, 60 LEDs. Around 4-5€ on Aliexpress. ### Update: 54 leds is enough I found out that 60 leds is drawing too much current. I would suggest to stick to 54 leds. ### Update: thumbcluster connector in the way Please be sure that you soldered the cable connector on each thumb cluster on the back of the PCB so it doesn't interfere with the LED mounts. For the Advantage 2 this is a problem as the connectors differ and are factory-soldered on the front side of the PCB
