#King Tiger Jig ##An Assembly Aid for Building MENG SPS-062 You can purchase a complete 1:35 scale interior plastic model kit for the German Heavy Tank Sd. Kfz. 182 King Tiger [Porsche Turret] from MENG (SPS-062) for a modest price. This kit is intended to be a supplement for the pricier exterior King Tiger Sd. Kfz. 182 Porsche Turret kit also by MENG (TS-037). Remarkably, if you follow this plan, you’ll end up with a completely enclosed King Tiger model kit that hides the beautiful interior detail supplied with MENG SPS-062. If you’d rather assemble a King Tiger model kit interior, sans exterior, you’d still need to purchase the external kit for obtaining the lower hull, turret, and track set. This *Thing* model is an attempt at alleviating the need for purchasing the external kit and allowing you to build a complete, standalone King Tiger interior. Please note that this is only a jig for framing the initial steps of the interior kit construction. It does **_not_** provide a complete lower hull, upper hull, turret, tracks, sprocket, return idler, or road wheels. Although, fenders, hatches, and covers are optionally supplied for enabling you to retain the jig inside your final build of the MENG interior kit. Also, there is a rudimentary drilling guide (just for visual aid) for adding attachment points to the jig’s fenders. You can purchase the MENG interior kit (SPS-062) for a discounted price from http://www.scalehobbyist.com ###Step-by-Step [Please refer to the attached photographs with the corresponding step numbers for visualizing the assembly and usage of this jig.] **Pro Tip:** After Step 3 (see below), jump ahead in the MENG instruction booklet to the kit’s Steps 9-11 and add the stowage boxes and accessories to the interior sides of the lower hull. These added parts will provide valuable guidance for adding the lower floor cross supports in Step 5. Otherwise, you might make the same mistake I did in the Opener photograph! :) Step 1. Carefully assemble the jig according to the STL part names. The use of Testors Liquid Cement for Plastic Models (#3507) is recommended for this step. Step 2. Match the kit’s lower hull sides and front plate with the jig. Using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement Quick Setting brand (#87182) will enable you to quickly assemble the interior kit’s parts. Step 3. Only do this step, **IF** you plan on eliminating the jig from your completed build. Gently slide the kit’s lower hull partially out of the jig. Then begin installing the lower floor supports as illustrated in Step 1 of the instruction booklet. Remove the jig and finish the assembly of your King Tiger interior kit. Enjoy.
