Door lever hinge replacement for KitchenAid KCMS145JSS1 Microwave. It replaces an easy to snap off piece from Whirlpool OEM Part #815195 which is hard to glue back and even harder to find. The first attempt at gluing it lasted about 6 months of regular use but it's a piece that sees a lot of stress from pressing the button and it eventually snapped again. I tried using JB weld epoxy but it seemed brittle (was an old bottle but I never had much kuck with JB weld overall). Eventually, due the the part being hard to find or too expensive if bought as the whole panel (and hard to install by amateurs) I tried printing a part that would replace it. After cleaning up the area I used the wider surface of the piece I designed to secure it to the unit, giving it more grip and spreading the stress. If you have issues fitting it in, you might have to shave a millimeter from the top part to give a bit of leeway for the lever piece to fit in the opposite hole. So far it seems like it save me $500 bucks on a new microwave so even if I had to replace it again some months down the line it would be worth it. I do hope the wider surface area provides enough strength to the new design.
