Kitsune (nine-tailed fox)

Kitsune (nine-tailed fox)

Kitsune are known to possess superior intelligence, long life and magical powers. They are a type of yōkai, or spiritual entity, and the word kitsune is sometimes translated as "fox spirit." However, this does not mean that kitsune are ghosts, nor does it mean that they are fundamentally different from ordinary foxes. The word "spirit" is used to reflect a state of knowledge or enlightenment, as all long-lived foxes acquire supernatural powers. There are two common classes of kitsune. Zenko are benevolent, celestial foxes associated with the god Inari; they are simply called Inari foxes. In contrast, yako (literally, "field foxes") are wild, tending to be mischievous and even vicious. Physically, kitsune stand out for their number of tails, of which they have up to a maximum of nine. Generally, a large number of tails indicates a longer-lived and more powerful fox; in fact, some folk tales mention that a fox will have additional tails when it has reached a thousand years old. In stories, kitsune with one, five, seven and nine tails are common. When a kitsune gets its ninth tail, its fur turns white or gold. Nine-tailed foxes or kyūbi no kitsune have the ability to see and hear any event occurring in the world. This is my second model hoping it will be to your liking. In the images is the unworked pla print.
