Klein Bottle

Klein Bottle

thingiverse

This is a printable version of a klein bottle. A klein bottle is a non-orientable surface, much like our other design of the henneberg. As a true klein bottle exists in 4D space, this is a 3D representation of it (D.B., T.S., MAT 363, Fall 2016). Print Settings Printer Brand: SeeMeCNC Printer: Rostock MAX Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: Be careful while your klein bottle is printing the thin piece that would intersect with the larger main part. This part of the bottle has a tendency to drop at higher scaled versions of the file thus causing issues during printing. The supports in place prevent that from happening at it's current size, but may require adjustments at different sizes. Post-Printing Optional: It is possible to break off the supports after printing, or to even trim off the base platform. They are merely there to aid in actually printing the file, but there is also no harm in keeping them either. How I Designed This We came up with the idea for the klein bottle in looking for some sort of way to present a 4-dimensional object to the class. As a klein bottle looked intriguing, we chose to start here, which later we also added the Henneberg to our to-do-list. We found parameterizations for the klein bottle on wikipedia, which we then copied these equations into rhino which allowed for the creation of our file. This original design had far too many polygons after we piped the shape, thus we had to tinker with this in order to get the shape to print. At small versions of the file, the supports at the neck were not necessary, and thus we only added them after trying to print larger versions of the file.
