A spool holder for use within an AU$4 5L Anko food container as sold by KMart. Should suit spools with an inner diameter of between 50mm and 100mm, up to approximately 80mm across. Provided the assembly and mounting are correct, it will automatically adjust via gravity to the appropriate diameter. Designed with 1KG spools and horizontal mounting in mind but may be able to support heavier spools. Not suitable for vertical mounting. Requires 18mm or ¾" holes in the lid and tub for mounting - use a spade bit for a cleaner cut as these containers are quite brittle. A full unit requires 1x Post (Lower), 1x Post (Upper), 2x Sleeves, 2x Through bolts, 2x Bearing Cups, 3x Arm (Hole), 3x Arm (Peg), 3x Arm Clips, 3x Brackets, 3x Rods, and 6x Hands to be printed, with 2x 608 bearings. Optionally included is an externally accessible Winder, while a 608 bearing substitute is also provided (though the bearings give a better seal and smoother motion). Assembly seems complicated but is relatively straight forward. While it can be done by hand I would recommend the use of a pair of pliers to assist. - Mount the 3x Rods to the Post (Lower) facing away from the peg with the small hole in the rod towards the mounting and pointing inwards. - Attach the Arms to the Sleeves by inserting them angled 45° down towards the flat side by the longer end with the pegs pointed counter-clockwise (when viewed from the non-flat side). - Install one Sleeve flat side first onto the Rod/Post (Lower) assembly, pushing it all the to the bottom and over the slightly wider part of the rod to lock it in place. - Install the remaining Sleeve flat side out onto the rods, and feed the arm pegs through the arm holes. - Lock the pegs in place with the Arm Clips. - With the two Sleeves as close together as possible, fit the Post (Upper) to the other end of the Rods with the pin pointed away from the existing assembly. - Install the Hands to the ends of the arms, with the flat side out. These have the same locking mechanism as the Sleeves and must be installed from 45° (the close-up picture of the Hand has the main assembly laying across the bottom). - With the Sleeves close together, slide the Brackets into the hands from the top. Like the Rods, the top of the Brackets is larger to lock the upper Hands into place. A piece of gripping material can be fitted to the short L of the Brackets to better facilitate the use of the winder. Final assembly pictured with 40cm of PTFE tube (4mm/2mm), silica desiccant, and a fresh 1kg spool of 3DFillies white PETG, using my previously submitted Mini PTFE Tube Grommet: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4063602 For a less complicated option, try my 20mm-60mm threaded variant: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4200484 NB These Anko containers are **not** air tight. I highly recommend running a bead of something (silicone, hot glue, etc) to make a better seal.
