This is the Lancelot mech from the anime Code Geass. It took about a week to finish, that included test prints and assembly to see if the parts fit together properly, and printing, painting and assembly of the final model. All the models were made on 123D Design. Some of the details had to be changed for the inclusion of ball and socket joints so the whole thing can articulate as well as making it easier to print out. A few of the parts need to be printed twice because they are symmetrical: Shoulder, Landspinners, Thigh, Hand, Thigh plate, Sword, Scabbard, Bracer. The parts were put together with superglue ,and all the ball and sockets just snap together, the joint that attach the feet to the legs are bit difficult to snap in, and the socket in the shoulder should be assembled around its ball. One thing I noted while putting it together was that the joints got easier to move over time and became loose, to fix that I lined the inside of the sockets with thin strips of craft foam. For the fingers, sword guards, rifle and wheels I used small pieces of 22 gauge wire to allow them to pivot. I printed it out in PLA with 10% fill on a printrbot simple.
