Komet Hand Mixer flange, nut, hexagon connector

thingiverse

designed a new flange, nut, hexagon (or whatever you want to call it) connector for my Komet RG5 Hand Mixer, since the original piece had been damaged over the 50 years of its life. A friend has a Komet RG28 and I could replace it on that too, since its the same part. This may fit on other models as well, but I can't test that. If you are already opening your mixer to replace this piece, I highly recommend to replace the grease for the worm drive gears, as this hardens over time and will not lubricate the gears properly anymore, increasing wear. Two versions are available, one with a hole going all the way through, and one where the hole is a bit deeper as the thread on the mixer. Print what version works best for you, depending on the thread cutters (M5) you got. I recommend to print this with a much finer nozzle than 0.4mm, I used a 0.2mm one. Nylon filament would probably be better suited for this application than PETG. If you have the possibility to print this with an SLA printer I can imagine the results to be even better, if you use a strong resin (I have not worked with SLA printers yet, so I can't really suggest any settings or resin). I have also made a few other replacement parts for this mixer, that may also fit in other models, like the cover for the gears, an improved cover that helps lubricating the gears and prevents the grease from building up ontop of the gears and a replacement eject lever, that can also be seen in the 2nd pic.
