
Kossel Effector for E3D V6 hotend

I made this thing! An adapter plate for my kossel, the one supplied was in desperate need of modifications to accommodate the E3D, so I downloaded Ponpont's excellent plate from here. But I discovered that a probe was entirely unnecessary! What can I say? I paid attention during assembly! The bed is made of glass, therefore it's perfectly flat, and I took my time setting up the frame and rods precisely, resulting in zero calibration wobble. Ever. Not even slightly, well only when changing nozzles. But I did manage to break a thermistor AND heater in the process of dismantling and reassembling several times due to hotend clogs, so instead of a probe, some connection points for the thermistor and fan seemed like a much better idea, hence I added a square hole for a 4-way dupont connector with a screw lock. I simply push the 4-way through the top of the plate until about two millimeters stick out beneath it, then attach short leads to the thermistor and fan, and plug these in from underneath. It makes stripping down a breeze! As for connecting my heater leads, they are attached using heavy-duty spade connectors which I can pop open, unplug the fan, unplug the thermistor, and then just unscrew the entire heaterblock straight out of the hotend. Easy as can be! To top it all off, I have no love for captive nuts as there's not enough space to get at them, so I switched to slots instead. They're a bit oversized sometimes; occasionally I need to wedge a small screwdriver down between a flat on the nut and the side of the hole to tighten up properly, but that's a much better option than trying to keep captive nuts in position while supporting the effector and rod end! It might be a bit heavy, but it hasn't given me any trouble yet... probably just my luck.
