KX3 Powerpole Adapter (for radios with external heat sinks)

KX3 Powerpole Adapter (for radios with external heat sinks)

Finally. I have modified my own KX3 Powerpole design to support radios with external heat sinks that prevented the use of the original adapter. (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2744103) Of course you don't need to have a heat sink on your radio to use this adapter. IMHO, this is a better design than my original and I would use it because it has a lower profile. Elecraft was very efficient in the use of space on the left-hand side of the KX3. To design an adapter that does not wrap around the rear, I needed to have the adapter extend slightly above the top of the radio right alongside the Band+ and Band- buttons. Even for a left-handed person, such as myself, this does not interfere with operation, and definitely will not be a problem for the majority of operators. In all other respects, it is assembled and functions just like the original design. See https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2744103 for cable fabrication instructions. When installing the cable into the 3D printed shell, be sure that the red side of the Powerpole adapter is inserted into the shell first. The shell is designed with 2 detents (on the side and bottom) that will not lock the Powerpole in place if it is install black-side first. As with the original, if you wish to purchase a prefabricated adapter; you can find them here: http://stores.ebay.com/N0WL-Radio
