Lady Baltimore sits ontop the Battle Monument in downtown. Italian sculptor Antonio Capellano created Lady Baltimore in 1815. That same year the monument was adopted as Baltimore’s emblem, it also helped give rise to the city’s nickname as “The Monumental City.” Fun fact: the figure of Lady Baltimore can be spotted on the garbage bins throughout the city.
