Lame for Bread

Lame for Bread

thingiverse

I needed a "Lame" for a bread making class I am taking at my Community College, so I figured that Thingiverse would be a good source for a usable design. The model offered by Gyrobot was a very close candidate, but as I have found time and time again ... it is difficult (at best) to insert a 6mm stem into a 6mm hole. FDM printers just aren't accurate enough. I remixed Gyrobot's design by first making everything symetrical. I then tried making the hole in the handle 1mm larger than the stem, but the fit was too loose. I decreased this to .8mm and this is just right for my printer. (You may have to lightly sand the stem in order to get it to fit, but once it's in it's there to stay.) I also decided to forgo the "Hard" blade cover and instead used some left over leather and made soft covers. You will need a piece of leather approximately 40mm x 90mm, folded in half and stitched along two sides.
