Going with the WWII bomber theme I've decided to take influence from the Avro Lancaster Bomber. It was possibly the most successful bomber of WWII with over 7000 of them produced and has a great story behind it. The Lancaster I'll be referencing is located in a museum near me. It's a later model (MK X) hence the name of the watch. The squadron identification codes could be embossed in the leather as well for even more customization and in honor of those who served in the war. The FT2 or FM159 is dedicated to the memory of Ian Bazalgette, a Lancaster pilot who was awarded the Commonwealth's highest award for valour, the only Albertan to be so recognized during WW II. http://bit.ly/Q5Y6s0 WWII planes are rich with inspiration and details for creating intricate time pieces. I'm referencing things like the horizon gauge, propellers, rivets, cockpit canopy's, the guns, bombs, throttle instruments and the list goes on. I'll use different materials and colors to create a series for it as well. The other versions could be the Lancaster 'Night Raid' and Lancaster 'Damb Buster'. At one point I'd like to design watches dedicated to the Flying Fortress and Liberator bombers. I figured I'd start with sketching out a few ideas before jumping into CAD. These sketches shown are obviously more of the polished ones. Hope you enjoy and great competition!
