Landscape Cell Phone stand with Sound Deflector

Landscape Cell Phone stand with Sound Deflector

This stand was designed for my iPhone 6S Plus which has a thick case. The speaker on this phone is on the "bottom" of the phone and to one side (next to the charging port and microphone) and does not sound very good in most stands since it fires off to the left (in the landscape orientation shown in the photo). I wanted a stand that would be good for viewing videos. The stand seems to work well with lots of other phones, although you should make sure that the speaker position matches your phone. You could mirror-reflect the model in your slicer to switch the position. The model does need to be printed with supports. I used the experimental tree supports in Cura 4.2 (this saved a lot of time in the print compared to the standard support option) I used 40% infill and 5 layers for the shell just to make sure the connecting bar would not buckle with rough handling. My initial prototype was in PLA and the model shown was printed in PETG. Both seem to work great. (If you are willing to sacrifice sound quality, you could cut off the top of the sound deflector and save yourself a lot of time in the supports needed for that. My initial prototype didn't have the top, but this one does and it sounds noticeably better.) Enjoy! - robotail
