Lantern for Mid-Autumn Festival

Lantern for Mid-Autumn Festival

Was tasked with creating a lantern for the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival, that had to be eco-friendly and innovative. So I created this. It uses a solar LED from an Ikea Solvinden lantern, and I printed it in PLA. I printed inner diffuser with clear PLA to allow light transmission. You can probably skip the diffuser and just tape paper to the inside if you wish. The lantern is sized so that half of a sheet of A4 size paper (cut length wise) wraps around the diffuser and fits inside the lantern body. This paper can be painted/colored/drawn on for whatever design you see fit. To assemble, I ran 2x lengths of fishing line, each .75m, from the bottom to the top and then back down the opposite side, knotting the lines at the bottom so they wouldn't come out. EDIT: After printing mine, I moved the string holes to the corners so the strings won't be in the way like they are on the one in the photo.
