Get your laptop off your desk! A generic design for mounting an open laptop to a wall. This was designed to accommodate a Lenovo T410 mounted with the screen open. There are two types of mounts featured. A fixed mount with no moving parts. The other type has a removable retainer piece to ease removal of the laptop from the mount. If you have a furry critter that walks on your laptop this may be the solution for you! (getting a wireless keyboard that you can turn on and off with a mouse also aids in the quest to complete work and projects without too much help from critters) Made with FreeCad, source files provided as usual. Instructions Changed infill for prints to something more than 30% which helps in durability. The part has already been designed to print on its side which gives it the most strength when dealing with the tension created by the laptop's weight. Use roughly 1" wood screws if mounting to a desk. The brackets will fit a laptop snugly up to 2.5cm thick (the lenovo it was designed for ~2.2cm thick) I would recommend to print with 3mm ~ 5mm of brim depending on how well you can print with ABS. On a Taz4 the print time per part is ~ 1.5 hours. After the print completes pre-drill the screw holes working up from the inner diameter of the screw hole up to the desired size of the screw's outer diameter. If you are over ambitious with the progession of the hole sizes you may hear cracking when drilling. If you do not pre-drill the hole large enough you may experience or hear cracking of the ABS around the hole. If you have a DVD/CD drive or ports try to choose spots that don't block access to them if they are commonly used. The mount with a separate top and bottom are designed to be a snug fit so it does not fall apart, but also you are able to take it apart just using your hands. Depending on the print quality used it will effect how tight the top and bottom are. Before installing I would recommend playing with it and possibly filing the parts where they join until you are comfortable with how they work together.
