I wanted to draw some big circles so I could carefully sketch a part on a whiteboard. Couldn't find any big compasses laying around so I made one! The design is meant for lasercutting. Comes in 20cm, 30cm, and 50cm lengths. To make, cut two matching lengths and affix them together with a 1/4" machine screw (or similar size), using washers to keep the arms from binding together. There are slots meant for rubber banding the working ends of the compass—markers, pens, pencils, etc. I used a pencil eraser as the center point since I was drawing on a whiteboard (worked ok, not great), but if you're drawing on paper you could use a sharp pencil, nail, etc., as your center. (Could only find one rubber band so I just taped the marker to the other end.)
