Large RAMPS Case for ANET A8

When converting my printer to a RAMPS setup, I tried several methods of mounting and enclosing the control boards. I remixed the original to be quite a bit larger, and to use a separate mount plate. The mounting plate allows me to run wires down behind the case. The larger size allows more room for routing cables inside the box (also more room for my fat fingers...) It also gives me plenty of room for expander boards down the line. I modified the cooling vents to provide more positive pressure on the inside of the case before forcing the air out the side. I feel this allows the air to flow better inside the box across the boards and heat sinks. I also removed the need for nuts on the inside. I am using hardware I have on hand, so my screws thread directly into the holes. BEWARE!! This configuration mounts the case quite low on the printer. You could be short on wire coming from your extruders, etc. and it does not leave much room on the bottom for plugging in your USB cable. You may want to modify the mount to sit the case higher. ALSO... there is only about 7mm of space between the case and the X stepper. Be careful how you route your wires on that side. Print Settings Printer: ANET A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 Infill: 15 Notes: This mount and case are both quite large. You may want to use rafts if you have adhesion issues. I tend to print with the counter sink side of the holes down. Post-Printing I use a counter sink to clean up the counter sinks. Also, slight trimming / cleanup of pieces to ensure clean fit up of parts. How I Designed This Designed in SketchUp.
