Machine design concept to use preformed combustion liners to add all cooling holes after fabrication. This concept will allow the operator to load and unload parts while the laser is cutting the current part. This is strictly conceptual but I love the concept... The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in Scotlandhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falkirk_Wheel The Falkirk Wheel design is an awesome example of superb engineering! This unit would be hand driven (and hand tightened chuck) until I can combine the PLC of the Mitsubishi LXP 2512 (which apparently does not have available g(m)-codes) laser with yet another axis to rotate the Falkirk Assembly. The Haas rotary that rotates the liner would work on a dwell time to allow the cut and rotate until all (appx 4500 cooling) holes are cut... The purpose is to maintain perpendicularity of the hole to the centerline of the liner. The Laser is true to all machine limits for developing possibility of this working.... As a workaround I would implement a proxy switch to rotate the Haas indexer with the head of the laser. The Harvey Fonseca operator is from this site but I could not find him from searches... Hope you like!Renderings, likes and suggestions welcome!
