Chess is awesome. Lasers are awesome. It follows that laser chess is even more awesome. There are many versions of laser chess, this one is inspired by Khet 2.0. I plan to make an entirely laser cut version using refraction and internal reflection in the near future. Instructions Build Instructions (1) For both sides, print: 1x King 1x Laser 2x Guards 2x two sided ("scarabs") 7x one sided ("pyramids") (2) Add reflective surfaces to one/two-sided (pyramids & scarabs). Tin foil didn't work for me so I used thin sheets of polished metal. (3) Signify immune side of guard (4) Decorate king (5) Install laser diode, switch, battery to laser piece (6) Enjoy! Board Build Instructions (optional) (1) Laser cut both pieces (2) Glue them together Normal Rules (1) All pieces move like a king in regular chess, or alternatively rotate by ninety degrees, wit the exceptions: Laser piece can only rotate two-sided mirror pieces can forcefully swap places with an adjacent single-sided or guard piece (this is to avoid stalemates) (2) At the end of a players turn, they must fire their laser (3) A piece hit on a non-mirrored or otherwise immune (in the case of a guard) side is destroyed. (4) See picture for recommended staring layout Ideas for Alternative Rules (1) Have both players move simultaneously by writing their move on paper (2) Introduce a half-silvered mirror. (3) Add pieces that behave differently at different heights, and pieces that shift the beam up or down.
