Laser Cut Hinge

Laser Cut Hinge

thingiverse

Everybody loves the living hinge but sometimes you need something functional that can actually be load bearing. I designed this hinge for the lid of a box, it prevents the lid from flapping all the way open and is sturdy enough to hold the lid tight. This and all my other items can be found on my blog http://msraynsford.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/hinged-success.html Instructions The overlapping region of each hinge layer is etched to prevent the hinge from binding when the layers are stacked up. An M4 bolt is put through the middle of hinge with a nylock nut and the end caps hide the bolt away. The 2 different layers in the middle of the hinge prevent the hinge opening wider than 110 degrees so the lid of the box will fall and stay open, but will not bed all the way back and snap off.
