Laser Distance Finder

Laser Distance Finder

This is an idea whose value is probably more to stimulate you to think about the extraordinary range of practical uses to which 3D printing can be put. It's unlikely too many of you reading this will have precisely the same equipment to put together... This is a base to link an optical finder and a laser distance measuring device - and place them on a tripod. (Essential if you are doing DIY surveying!). The laser measurement device and finder are catalogue items. The tripod mount is separate from the base so you can tailor it to whatever tripod you may have at hand. All the design files are provided in a number of formats so you can modify them to your heart's content. Instructions This couples an Orion 6x30 finder scope (http://www.amazon.com/camera-photo/dp/B0000XMVCM) and a generic laser distance measurement tool (in this case a Sndway SW-70). Rhino3D and STEP model files are provided. For amusement, the last 2 photos are totally OT, but shows the ray tracing software modelling the optics of the finder... The wonders of modern software tools ;-).
