Laser Engraved 3D Wooden Coat of Arms

We at Trotec have decided to show some Canadian pride by creating a 3D wooden engraving of the Canadian Coat of Arms on 1/4" solid maple wood. Using the relief mode in JobControl software, we were able to auto-adjust the power of the laser. This falls in line with the grey shade of our 3D image. Check it out! How I Designed This Step 1: Create the file Our friends over at Gantry (gantryco.com) took our 2D image and tranformed it into 3D. We then grey scaled it to add depth (dark = deep, light = shallow) when laser engraving. Attached are the 3D TIFF files that would be used, also included are the .cdr and .eps files for 2D versions Step 1: Create the file Step 1: Create the file Step 2: Print Click "File", "Print", "Preferences" then switch from "standard" mode to "relief" mode. Now the crest should print which will take 30mins approx (if its 5" x 5"). *Tip: You can try cleaning it with a toothbrush and water or a bevel machine with a foam tip. Step 2: Print Step 3: Settings and wood type Testing multiple types of wood, we found that 1/4" maple was the best choice as it charred the least and was easy to clean up. Our preferred setting on our Speedy 300 100w flexx laser machine was 100 power, 35 speed for the first 2 heavy passes. The last two light passes were set up to 60 power, 100 speed the clean up the heavy pass. Ta Daa! You now how a beautiful piece of art to show your Canadian pride!
