Laser Gyroscope Design

Laser Gyroscope Design

*This is mainly an upload for me to remember this project, and where I started. This was my first creation using a CAD software back in 2019. More information about this project can be found at:https://github.com/ryli123/PolarisThis was a design I created with my teammates for my AP Physics high school culminating project. The file contains the design for a single-gimbal gyroscope. As the motor spins the wooden disc in the center of the module, the gyroscope should retain its position when turned about its axis. Lasers would then be shone through the circular translucent gradient to detect motion about the axis when the gyroscope is turned.Three of these were created out of wooden panels, dowels, lasers, motors, photosensors, and batteries. These were placed in a housing which I designed afterwards, shown in the later pictures. I also designed a pamphlet / booklet as a mock advertisement for our project.*The housing shown in the third picture is not included in the file, as opening it today leads to errors, likely due to the fact that it was my first time working with CAD software. I hope to create more things like this in the future, hopefully with much better practices!
