This is an adapter to allow mounting a laser sight to a Celestron Nexstar 6SE telescope. When using a GoTo scope, you need to find the alignment stars during setup. In my initial use, I'm still uncertain about the utility of this as a finder. The parallax issue tends to impede accuracy. I'll have to do a few more sessions with it before making a final determination. I'm not sure it's accurate enough to put stars in the eyepiece view. There was a strong moon and that may have affected my results. It's very useful to see exactly where in the sky your scope is pointing. One of the things I never really liked about GoTo scopes is that, although they make finding objects incredibly easy, I lose the connection to the sky and often cannot really tell where in the sky the object is located. I expect that having a laser show you where the scope is pointing allows me to understand and get to know the night sky better than with the scope alone. This adapter screws on using existing mounting holes and has been designed to mount a Pinty hunting rifle green laser sight. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019Q05CNY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I recommend using the momentary switch that comes with the sight as I believe it's much safer than the switch that can leave it on when unattended. There are doubtless other accessories that could mount to the same Weaver style rail as well.
