Lathe Chuck Clamp Sensor Bracket

Lathe Chuck Clamp Sensor Bracket

thingiverse

This bracket mounts both chuck clamping sensors on an Okuma Space Turn LB4000 EX CNC Lathe. The sensors require adjustment for parts of varying diameter to determine if the chuck is clamped onto a part. To bypass this constant adjustment, I designed this bracket to mount to the lathe in place of one of the original sensor mounting plates. Once the sensors are installed, a metal block with a mounting hole fits inside the two top tabs. The operator flips the metal block to one side or the other to tell the machine that the chuck is clamped or unclamped. Once on the clamped side, the operator would not need to make any further adjustments to allow the machine to run with any size part being clamped on the outside diameter. if the operator wishes to clamp on the inside diameter of a part, requiring the unclamped sensor to be active, the operator simply flips the metal block to the appropriate sensor.
