Ok guys.. Vs 8 success! If you own a DJI Phantom and a 3d printer (or access to one).. Here is your alternative to another $350+ channel to do the same thing here for less than $20 and print filament etc.. Launch something from above.. Vs 8.. Notice.. No flight characteristic changes with landing gear/gimbel guard.. With Launch platform: I'm happy to announce 11 flights in a row with zero changes in flight characteristics.. Hehe.. The only noticeable difference was flight time seemed reduced to about 17+ mins.. Weights: Landing Gear/Gimbel Guard: 49 gms.. Empty 'Balanced' Snap on Launch Platform: 114 gms.. Total 163 gms.. Note.. Currently working to determine if a long hinge micro switch and fulcrum might be more efficient than a brush system while considering the additional strain on the gimbel system.. Also 6v vs 3v power.. Instructions The stl files are arranged in the best print configuration for my machine (XYZ).. Depending on your printers capabilities to print near perfect circles you may find better print orientations.. The basic landing gear and Gimbel protector is a single print.. It mounts fine with 2 small cable ties.. Super glue is used to bind the sides to bottom 'A', bottom 'B' (print 2) to the balance rails of bottom 'A', the contact boom to the back of the container, the motor housing to the container, the motor spindle is a 'pressed' fit.. the latchmec slide to the Ejector and the Latch Pin/Circuit breaker to the back of the platform (cock and load for launch and then glue the Pre-assembled Latch Pin/circuit breaker).. I used double sided tape to attach the 3v battery housing.. Use 'C' shaped cuts from a 'Jumbo' paper clip for hinges when coupling LatchMec 'T' Pusher to Ejector LatchMec and for hinging the 'Retainer' to the bottom of container.. A cut jumbo paper clip was used to serve as both a latch Pin and circuit breaker (Make sure to file any sharp edges from your cut paper clip to prevent tearing the conductive tape and promote smooth electrical contact).. I used a small piece of conductive tape around the loop end of the paper clip/circuit breaker to solder the wiring to the paper clip and mount in the designated Pin/latch holder.. The motor housing and spindle is for the 'geared' motor displayed with a 2.1mm shaft.. Brushes were made by cutting the sides from 1/2 in brass pipe screens and crimping one end to solder and then glued to the contact boom.. I like a thick viscosity super glue like Mighty Mendit for attaching brushes and securing wiring.. Medium sit epoxy will work as well.. Make a cable for the motor spindle from twine or whatever medium you prefer.. When building the Latch Mec Circuit breaker and battery assembly use multiple layers of conductive tape to determine the 'fit' you prefer.. Placement of the 'conductive' tape in the bottom corner of the camera shell will result in contact when the camera is pointed all the way down for launching whatever you can fit! Snicker.. Please note rubber band 'routing' for proper operation.. The 'Counter weight compartments are designed for 1/4 inch flat washers.. When completely assembled use the balance points on the bottom of the launch platform and load 1/4" washers to find a slight forward balance when empty.. My prototype took 8 washers on the battery side to 6 on the motor side (Diff between motor weight and battery assb weight).. Total weight of Landing gear and empty 'balanced' launch platform was 163 gms.. Most agree the Phantom 2 will lift 450 grms without running hot and only moderate fight time decrease.. That leaves over 250 grams of lift without problems.. Use the Launch Balance Mec to determine your 'load' balance after cocking and before snapping in.. Add washers to compensate for your load.. Printing of the Storage Brush protector is optional to operation.. 3d Max Studio files available upon request.. Have fun guys.. I included an .stl of a Tissue paper streamer that holds a 'Disc Golf Beacon light'.. 5 foot of tissue paper can be 'roll filled' with lots of multicolor confetti and other things.. Snicker..
