Laundry Basket Handle (Ikea Torkis)

Laundry Basket Handle (Ikea Torkis)

thingiverse

This is a handle to repair snapped handles on the Ikea Torkis laundry basket. It's my first design and I'm new to 3d printing, but they work and save a broken basket from landfill. The old handle sits inside the new one if the break happened sufficiently close to the edge of the handle. Requires two self tapping wood screws of appropriate length. Given the cost of the basket, these are only viable to print if you have free access to a 3d printer already. It's more about saving you a trip to Ikea, a trip to the dump and something large going into landfill. Do not overtighten the screws. Stop as soon as you hit the plastic or you will crack the printed part. This part has a reasonably extreme overhang at the start that could be improved upon significantly. More space is required in the cut-outs at the bottom of the handle as it's very tough to squeeze the short part of the original handle inside the new one without cracking the lower part of the handle.
