<p>I found this design about 3 years ago on Thingiverse by davwilso.</p><p><a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2748680">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2748680</a></p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/d37f8f51-62b4-42a2-82c6-c7db08208ee6/image.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%2203a3df68-ee3e-43a2-a8cd-73cd0ad5ac87%22%2C%22w%22%3A160%2C%22h%22%3A120%7D"></p><p>I liked the idea but it would not fit the All® brand. I also hate using support! So I designed a new version.</p><h3>How I Designed This</h3><p>Like the original designer, I took photos of the cap threads and experimented in Fusion 360 to get the cap part correct (even printed a cap test before committing to the rest of the design).</p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/0c2f3e3d-7d2b-478b-9191-b505f10b1f54/image.png#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%223c209540-e0f6-456c-99af-417d51d45290%22%2C%22w%22%3A314%2C%22h%22%3A202%7D"></p><p>I looked at several different shapes for the top part. As my goal was no support, I ruled out a circle (support needed at the bottom of the circle).</p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/7bc78d67-99b3-44c0-9157-7d95752e8755/image.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%22b08a31a6-9f2a-4b21-b514-7de53907ec84%22%2C%22w%22%3A139%2C%22h%22%3A160%7D"></p><p>I also ruled out a square (bridging need across the top).</p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/ad7642e6-5f0d-47b3-9581-201c078df16b/image.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%223a7c2cda-7f71-4be3-92f1-cb730b6f10cb%22%2C%22w%22%3A130%2C%22h%22%3A160%7D"></p><p>I also had to give up on the nice curved pipe between the top and cap (again support required).</p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/8b5957e8-8db4-4d10-8bc2-7ce19ee8a569/image.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%224812f801-6891-438a-9252-ffff35697287%22%2C%22w%22%3A147%2C%22h%22%3A160%7D"></p><p>A triangle had to be too large and waste too much unusable space outside of the drainer's area. Both hex and octagon also need bridging across the top.</p><p><img src="https://media.printables.com/media/prints/177209/rich_content/bb1bd701-55f0-4907-b814-3b93b54b2af7/image.jpeg#%7B%22uuid%22%3A%22e571c3e4-84cd-4b43-98e4-989dbab1b9e1%22%2C%22w%22%3A276%2C%22h%22%3A448%7D"></p><p>I settled on pentagon as the only shape that would need no support and not waste a lot of space. And the connecting tube became a straight pipe on a 45 degree angle due to support.</p><p>The first one I made lasted over 3 years Eventually, due to many times being unscrewed and tightened back on, the threaded part suffered layer separation (the only real deficiency in printing in this orientation). On this latest modification, I thickened up the screw cap part.</p><p>I recommend brim due to the orientation.</p><p>I printed the first version in PLA, and this latest one in ABS. Time will tell which is best.</p>
