It includes a LED light for the real lava lamp effect. it uses the 'guts' of a $1 orzak led flash light from walmart, and the rest was designed with sketchup, sliced with slicer and printed on a printrbot simple. the top screws on/off to add the vinegar and oil for the vinagrette. Drop a spoon of baking soda form the top, to enjoy the classic "lava" blobs. Technically, this a "fizz-lamp" rather than a true lava lamp, since it is the CO2 released from the acid-base reaction that brings up the vinegar, which than floats down due to its higher density, rather than the heat expanding the wax like in the lava lamps. the battery pack is a remix from the AAA "Flexing battery holder" from Enif http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:456900 it can be used as a salad-dressing dispenser (with oil and vinegar or balsamic vinegar) or just as a lamp. if it is left empty, it works like a camping lamp. you can use it just with colored water (instead of vinegar) and oil, but in that case you need to drop in alka-seltzer tablet (providing both acid and base) rather than just baking soda, to obtain the lava effect Instructions there are 5 pieces to the print: cap, body, base, battery pack and light holder all of them fit in a10x10x10cm volume (we have a printrbot simple) the body of the lamp is in clear PLA. we printed it as a vase with 2 walls. it has to be water-tight, so the thickness is a concern. what works for you depends on the printer/settings you are using. the screw cap is very tight, you might want to print it slightly larger to allow a bit more tolerance Once i had all the printed pieces, i gutted the little $1 Ozark led flashlight (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Generic-5026-Ozark-Trail-9-LED-Mini-Flashlight/34350005) i used the on/off switch and the 9-led light. i also used the 3 AAA batteries. i assembled the base-lamp part as illustrated in the pictures. enjoy!!!!
