
LCD XY Build Area Offset Calibration for Chitubox

The actual MSLA resin printer XY build area will often not match the screen display area because the screens are assembled in such a way that some of the edge is blocked to stop light bleeding. The screen area must be calibrated in Chitubox if you really need the screen sized to the last microns. In Chitubox there is a checkbox in the Machine tab of settings called Build Area Offset. When you check that box, it allows you to enter the difference from the actual area. See https://www.chitubox.com/en/article/support/indepth/technology/33 I calibrated my screen by printing thin 10mm square boxes at each edge of the screen with offset turned off. I made the model in Windows 10 3D Builder and embossed them with the letters used in the Chitubox Build Area Offset settings so I could tell which is which. I measured each box with calipers and subtracted the dimension from 10mm to get the difference to type into the slicer settings. Chitubox lets you enter the number to the nearest micron. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a way to get around typing it into the settings for each resin profile I use. I have only made a model for the 5.5-inch screen (68.04mm X 120.96mm) on my original Elegoo Mars so far but I have incuded the CAD file. To adapt to your size screen, move the boxes to the edges of your size screen in your favorite CAD.
