LED Keyboard-Lamp
thingiverse
To boost productivity during late-night programming sessions, I designed a compact lamp that attaches to my Cherry keyboard without the need for screws or adhesives. This eliminates the hassle of flipping on a large overhead light and reduces glare on my monitor. I incorporated a convenient toggle switch into the design. For power, I modified my keyboard's casing to incorporate a 5V USB connector, allowing me to utilize any available USB port from a nearby computer or device. However, users can opt for an external USB source if preferred. A warm white LED strip, specifically designed for 5V operation, is used in this project. It's essential to use single LEDs rather than RGB LEDs due to the USB port's current limitation of 100mA. Please note that some white LED strips are 5050 type, meaning they combine red, green, and blue LEDs, which require more current than a standard USB port can provide.
