LED Party Block Module for ESP8266 or ESP32
thingiverse
This is a module for housing an ESP board, 18650 battery, and addressable LEDs. It is printed with transparent PETG at 250C.The initial layer should be as thin as possible, since light will be flowing through it.18650 terminals are available on Amazon.I used hot glue to attach everything. The insert should fit firmly into its footprint in the bottom of the box. The slide-on lid should also be snug. If it is too tight, sand the edges down slightly. The insert will not fit into the box if the MCU is mounted too low. See the placement of the module in attached photos for reference. The 'fixture' provides a flat surface to mount stick-on WS2812B strips to.I have been having fun setting up light displays that I can control over long distances using the FDRS protocol. The Arduino sketch to flash the ESP with can be found here.FDRS is a system I developed to simplify and organize ESP-NOW and LoRa data collection. Since FDRS allows you to use any ESP device as a simple repeater, you could theoretically set up synchronized light displays that span very long distances.
