Here is the "Big Brother" of this thinghttp://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1666149 After i finished the larger lamp, i still had my original desk lamp to tinker with. I had an area that could benefit from some infill light, and this is the result. Refer to http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1666149 for details of construction. Print Settings Printer: MendelMax 1.5 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 0.15 Notes: This is my first print with PETG, a very nice material, but hard to find the optimum settings. Used the heated printbed, but my extruder temp was a little too cool. Overall it turned out okay. Post-Printing Ouch... PETG is a very nice material, it just is hard to clean up supports and little bits from the print. I discovered that the little stringers are sharp like needles... Ouch.... Printed the shell upside down, with minimal support. The rings were printed concentric side up, with minimal support also. How I Designed This Designed this in 123Design, struggling to get the shell function to operate properly for the top "shell". Getting everything to line up was also a challenge..... The cross piece in the top shell, i used for "aligning" a PCB to vertical orientation. I umm McGyver'd it to fit the PCB with a pair of diagonal cutters. It is another example of "good enough is the enemy of the best" :) Custom Section Hardware used The two parts, lower plate and top shell are held together with 3mm hardware, just be sure not over tighten things when you assemble it. The LED RINGS are 90mm, 70mm, 50mm and can be found on Ebay. I made a small circut that rectifies the AC from the base, Filters it with some surplus caps i had laying about, and then feeds it to a small switching regulator. I set it to about 12.5volts output. The led rings generate a little heat, and thats the reason the top shell has some vent slots.
