Lego Dimensions Minifig Holder

Lego Dimensions Minifig Holder

thingiverse

The second biggest problem with the game LEGO Dimensions is keeping track of where that one minifig you need is... This is a holder for my Dimensions minifig collection. It is designed to stand up at an angle like a set of bleachers, or lay flat for storage. Print as many individual holders as you have minifigs, and connect them together any way you like; they are designed to LEGO-standard dimensions, and snap together using LEGO-standard pins, so you can build a nice rack to hold them with. Also attached: A prop and a counterweight that uses a dead AA battery to keep it upright when in bleacher mode, if you don't have any spare LEGO in the house. (The biggest problem, of course, is how much I've spent buying minifigs. But I can't 3D print a solution for that!) Print Settings Printer: M3D Micro Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Medium Infill: Low Notes: The holder for Batman must be printed in black. No supports are necessary. There is a built-in support for the two connector pins. If the pins give you trouble, print the "noconnectors" version and use LEGO pins to hold them together. Print as many of "dimensionsMinifigHolder.stl" as you have minifigs. Maybe just start with two or four. Snap them together into a nice array. If you are the sort to build a nice laquered wooden case for this, leave the holders laying flat and build a case around them. But if you want the minifigs upright, you need to prop them up. There is a hole in the back that takes a LEGO Axle (length 4 for the bottom row, 8 for the next). Build a LEGO contraption for holding the holder! Or print the included stands. I am currently up to the pictured 6x2 array. It's holding up nicely with one counterweight and stand for each three columns. For this setup, for every SIX holders, print ONE dimensionsMinifigHolderStand4.stl and TWO dimensionsMinifigHolderBallast.stl "Stand4" stands in for a pair of length 4 axles. The "Ballast" device snaps into the bottom row, giving it a horizontal base. Stick a dead AA battery into two of them to add some weight. Post-Printing Keep some real LEGO Technic bricks and pins around to test-fit with. Use the Sword of XAct Zero and a file to clean out the split in the pin.
