I held this upright while supports printed out. It looked pretty straightforward to cut off the supports after that. This one was printed in PLA, but I'd suggest ABS instead - it seems more durable. If the handle doesn't fit comfortably in my hand, I just tap it with a lighter, slide it into a lego hand mold, and squeeze it gently. That seemed to help make it fit better.
