Leica Digilux 1 add-on lens adaptor (wide angle / macro)

thingiverse

This adaptor allows use of inexpensive M52 Chinese made add-on wide-angle lens with the classic Leica Digilux 1 camera. The picture quality may be compromised a little, and the adaptor results in a little vignetting at the corners of the picture (possibly because I made the adaptor slightly too long, restricting the field of view) but the result is pretty much what I wanted. The Digilux 1 has a thread for add on lenses hidden beneath a smooth piece of metal at the front of the lens. Unscrew this and you can screw the adaptor into place with the add-on lens screwed into the end of the adaptor. Note that no attempt has been made to 3D print the very fine thread of either the adaptor or the add-on lens. The adaptor screws into place because the plastic used for printing the adaptor is softer than the metal on the lens and camera. This seems just about strong enough with my print on my camera with my lens. Indeed, I had to remove a tiny amount of material with sandpaper before I could screw everthing together. However, depending on the tolerances of your printer vs. mine you may find a less good fit. I printed at 0.3 mm resolution in natural colour PLA. It may be better to print the adaptor in a dark colour or black, or to paint it black after printing. http://hembrow.eu
