This mount was born of a need to take accurate distance measurements using a Leica Disto X310 laser distange meter, without disrupting its internal compass. It's designed so that the rotation axes align with the origin of the laser, so that it can be rotated on the tripod without compromising accuracy. It's thick and stiff to provide rigidity. The connection with the tripod and disto are made using common tripod adapter components available from eBay and other sources. It has space at the base for a small compass to aid with setup.
