Lens hood for Zoom Q2n Handy Video Recorder

The Zoom Q2n Handy Video Recorder is a compact video camera optimized for high-quality live audio recording. It has a couple of recognized shortcomings: 1) mediocre battery life - which this thing won't help, and 2) high susceptibility to lens flare even under routine lighting situations - which this thing was designed to help alleviate. At present, you can buy a lens hood from Zoom only as part of an accessory kit. It seems like an okay kit if you really want all the pieces, but it is quite a lot of money (~$50US) for just the lens hood. It is unfortunate that the lens hood isn't provided with the base product - it is essential. This is a quick-and-dirty project; a work in progress. It provides flare protection only for the most common - overhead lighting - case. The hood petal was designed by trial and error. It works in the limited situations I tested without interfering with the camera's field of view (nor its sound pickup pattern, as far as I can tell). If you have the wherewithal to develop a hood with more complete and effective coverage, that would be sweet! Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No
